Treatment Planning

Understanding your treatment choices

A treatment plan is a starting point for a conversation. Here is what it usually lists and what is worth asking before you decide.

A treatment plan at Woonona Dentists is a written outline of the care your dentist recommends after examining your mouth and talking with you. It is not a commitment. You are not obliged to go ahead with any treatment after your consultation.

What a treatment plan lists

Woonona Dentists gives a written plan that lists each recommended procedure with the cost of each service. The plan includes Australian Dental Association (ADA) item numbers. Quote these dental service codes to your health fund to check your cover. For current fees, call the clinic or read our fees page.

Ask about your options

A damaged tooth can sometimes be treated in more than one way, for example with a filling or a crown. Ask your dentist what each option involves, what it costs, how long it may last and what happens if you wait. Which option is suitable depends on your own mouth, so your dentist is the right person to advise you.

Ask about costs before treatment begins

Woonona Dentists discusses costs during your consultation, before any procedure begins. If your dentist finds that further treatment is needed once care has started, they will talk it through with you before going ahead. You can ask about costs at any time, and the team can explain the payment options that may suit your treatment.

Take the time you need

Some people start treatment straight away, some book it for later and some ask another dentist for a second opinion before more complex or costly work. All of these are reasonable choices. Writing your questions down before your appointment can help you remember what to ask.
