What Are Porcelain Dental Veneers?
Veneers are thin covers, made out of porcelain or ceramic that are bonded to the front of your teeth. Veneers can be used to alter the colour, length, size and shape of your natural teeth.

Prices vary, depending on the practitioner, location of the practice and complexity of your case. If you would like to know the average price of veneers, smile.com.au cites the results of their 2017 National Dental Fee Survey, which found that porcelain veneers average around $1983 per tooth and composite veneers cost $860 per tooth.

Why Would You Want Veneers?
Veneers improve the cosmetic appearance of your teeth and they can be used for a range of applications including
Covering discoloured teeth
A skilled Woonona dentist can craft veneers so that they hide discolouration and blend in with the other teeth in your mouth.
Closing gaps between teeth
If your teeth are separated by irregular gaps, your dentist can use veneers to space your teeth more evenly apart.
Improving the appearance of malformed teeth
Teeth that have been broken, fractured, chipped or worn away can have their appearance improved with a cover of dental veneers.
Straightening crooked teeth
Patients whose teeth are irregularly shaped or crooked can have them aligned with veneers. Some dentists also use veneers as an alternative to crowns. Because they last for a long time and are relatively inexpensive, they may be a viable substitute in some cases.
What Factors Influence The Cost Of Dental Veneers?
Are you having porcelain or composite veneers?
The type of veneer you opt for has a direct bearing on cost because porcelain is significantly more expensive than composite veneers as indicated above.
Why are you having veneers?
If your problem is extensive or complex, the cost of your veneers will be higher.
Where are you having the procedure?
An experienced and established practitioner is likely to cost more than a newer practice. Practices that are located in high density areas, with lots of competition, are also likely to charge lower fees.
What Does The Price Of Dental Veneers Include?
At your first appointment
You can expect at least two to four visits to your dentist before your veneers are finalised. Your first appointment will be an assessment and discussion about the available options with your dentist. Your dentist may take x-rays during this session.
At your second appointment
During your second appointment the moulds for your veneers will be made and temporary veneers will be put on if required. In order to make the mould, about half a millimetre of enamel will be removed from the surface of your teeth.
Your veneers will be return two to four weeks after the impressions have been sent to the lab
Your fitting
Your veneers will be fitted during a third appointment and, if necessary, adjustments will be made before they are cemented to the surface of your teeth. Your dentist will buff the surface of your teeth so that a stronger bond can be created between your tooth and the veneer.
Special dental cement is used to secure the veneer to the front of your tooth. The cement will be activated by a light beam so that it hardens fast and bonds securely to the front of your teeth.
Should You Pay More For Porcelain Veneers?
Porcelain is a longer lasting and more durable substance, and it requires much less maintenance than composite resin. Porcelain veneers can last for 12 to 25 years so if you would like your veneers for the long term, this is probably a more suitable solution.
Composite resin veneers are more affordable but are only expected to last between four and eight years and are more susceptible to chipping over time.
